November 17, Brooklyn, NY…A distinctive form of holistic medicine known as Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) is now offered at NYU Lutheran Family Health Centers’ (LFHC) Caribbean-American site. The site is a Level 3 designated Patient-Centered Medical Home in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn run by a team of health professionals and staff dedicated to providing the best care possible. The staff speak English, Haitian Creole, Spanish and French.
Appointed to manage this program at LFHC Caribbean-American is Devon White, D.O., an osteopathic practitioner and family medicine physician. Patients who benefit from OMM may receive treatment for back pain, chronic headaches, or joint pain. Studies have indicated that OMM can help relieve serious illnesses like pneumonia, COPD, asthma and heart failure.
“The concept is based on the idea that the body is interrelated and dependent on itself for good health,” Dr. White said. “The treatment facilitates the healing process for a person not just by getting rid of the pain but by helping the body to function as it should.”
Dr. White sees patients at the LFHC Caribbean-American site every other Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. To schedule an appointment with Dr. White, call 718-630-2197.
