May 2, 2014, Brooklyn, New York…NYU Lutheran Family Health Centers’ (LFHC) Reach Out and Read program recently hosted a storytelling event marking one year at LFHC’s Brooklyn-Chinese site. The event celebrated Reach Out and Read’s mission to encourage parents to read with their children at an early age, to promote healthy development and school readiness. Four volunteers from the Chinese-American Planning Council read stories to children who are patients of LFHC’s Brooklyn-Chinese site and engaged the families in interactive art activities. Each child also received a free book at the end of the event. The event was also attended by representatives from the Sunset Park Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library.
